A Crafted Holiday Menu

photo by Studio Hinman + shortbread cookie recipe

The kitchen is one of my favorite places to be in the house. When I am not in my office space designing, I’m usually in the kitchen (probably leaning against the exact cabinet my husband wants to get into at that moment). It’s a space where my family and I make memories and truly live in our home. We recently had new countertops installed (a blog post about that coming soon) and it has been such a huge different to have the extra counter space, especially at the holiday time.

With one of the busiest weeks of the year, I have put together a thoughtfully crafted list of delicious recipes perfect for the holiday season. These are approachable yet special enough to share with your loved ones this holiday season. Share which ones you tried from this list or love making with your own family on Instagram or Facebook.

Blood Orange Elderflower Gin Cocktail

A few days ago I was shopping at Trader Joe's and picked up some blood oranges. Their growing season is only December through April, so I knew I wanted them, but I didn't have a particular plan for them. When I found this cocktail recipe, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. It's delicious, light, and perfect for the season, and such a lovely color from the blood orange juice.

Alternatives: Christmas Sangria or Kiss the Ring

FOR SNACKING

Baked Brie with Pistachios and Fig Jam

I absolutely love brie for its creamy, delicious flavor. This recipe is a a nice change with the pistachios mixed in with the walnuts, but you can top with a variety of toppings depending on what you have in your pantry.

Fast alternative: Marinated Olives and Feta or Prosciutto Asparagus Puff Pastry Bundles

Mushroom, Goat Cheese, and Herb Frittata

Frittatas are a breakfast staple in our home. It’s easy to make a large one so everyone can eat together. You can basically toss in whatever protein or vegetables you have in the fridge. It’s easy for the kids to eat “breakfast pizza!”

Sweet alternative: Make-Ahead Vanilla Bean French Toast or Sweet and Savory Breakfast Board

Just thinking about making this makes my mouth water. I love the delicious splash of bourbon in this recipe.
